Geelong is a city synonymous with wool and was known as the ‘wool centre of the world’ for many years. You can learn more about Geelong’s wool history in the National Wool Museum on Geelong’s CBD fringe. The museum is housed in a heritage bluestone building and showcases exciting interactive exhibitions and displays.
If that is not enough history for you, drop into the bluestone Old Geelong Gaol. You’ll learn all about Australia’s early penal history and the harsh conditions prisoners had to endure. For the thrill-seekers, there are night ghost tours which will no doubt haunt you!
Footy fan? Geelong is home to the mighty Geelong Cats! Drop into the Simonds Stadium, Kardinia Park which is one of three venues within Victoria to host AFL premiership matches and the only one outside of Melbourne.

If you’re keen to head to the Great Ocean Road but don’t have a car, there are many tours that operate services between Geelong-Queenscliff-Lorne. You can stop by the iconic Bells Beach and see the rolling waves, or take a tranquil rain forest walk in one of the many National Parks.
